Pay Attention to Your Eyebrows Occasionally I ran across an eyebrow article today that reminded me about a custom makeover that I did recently for a women who wanted my opinion on what type of hairstyles would look best on her. I love my job, every makeover is unique with each woman’s hair type, hair struggles and life style issues. After creating over 3,000 makeovers, this woman’s struggle however was not that unusual. I found it easy to find styles that would flatter her and work with her life style. What was unusual, was her. . . unruly eyebrows. “made a believer This woman’s eyes were beautiful, a focal point that should be played up or drawn attention to. Her personality type was casual and she now wanted to focus more on improving her looks. Her husband also had a request on her makeover, that she try some “flirtatious” styles. Long story short, hair style changes made a huge difference, believe me, on bringing out a beauty she had under-minded. But, the elephant in the room in this makeover, was that her eyebrows appeared that they had never seen a tweezers. I had to tell her of this overlooked area of her beauty routine! If you have never observed the magic a well shaped brow can do for your appearance, check it out the article about Hollywood’s infamous “eyebrow king,” who can take 10 years off those who have unruly brows, made a believer out of me.... |

How to Shape Eyebrows So what do you do if you’ve over tweezed your eyebrows? I did this once, back in high school, when the style of the eyebrow went to a thinner eyebrow look. Thin I did well, but shapely? It was more like I had this scary, surprised look on my face all the time. I tried to copy a models eyebrows that I admired and I guess I got a little too ambitious. This was before the Internet, before having instant information and how-to tips at your fingertips. So, I just started plucking away, sure that my artistic flair would be sufficient to get the job done and the right eyebrow shape would emerge. Ha! “How to Shape Eyebrows” Nobody taught me how to shape eyebrows. Eyebrows take anywhere from 50 to 70 days to grow back in after being plucked, so they say. However, I’m suspicious that some eyebrows when plucked often enough, just don’t come back in. If you’ve done the seemingly un-doable and over tweezed, all is not lost. There are now eyebrow experts in specialty hair salons and spas to help give you the guidance and a clean, natural line that’s easy to follow at home. Or, you can opt to buy your own stencil or specialized kit to help you get back to a more natural, yet coiffed brow. There are always the people who capitalize on all this. Jane Iredale Super-Shape Me Eyebrow Kit sells for $62.00, a rip off if you ask me. It contains, two colors of powder, a brow wax to hold hairs in place and a lid primer. Also it contains two application brushes, one with a spoolie on one end and a small pair of tweezers. You could go this route, but for me, I would opt to use my own concoction of eye shadows and pencils to fill in weak areas of my eyebrows. The key though is getting a good shape to follow for your eyes and face shape. Would you believe an eyebrow makeover can make you look 10 years younger? Seeing is believing. The infamous Damone Roberts known as the, “The Eyebrow King,” in Hollywood, has made me a believer. Some of his celebrity clients include, Paula Abdul, Kirstey Alley and Madonna. You can catch some of his transformations from time to time on, “Ten Years Younger,” on the TLC channel Monday through Thursday at 12:00 and 12:30pm central time. Here is a quote and one tip from his website ;
